The Ford Aerostar is a minivan manufactured and marketed by Ford Motor Company for the North American market for model years 1986 to 1997 in both passenger van and cargo van configurations, in two body lengths — and in both rear wheel drive and all wheel drive configurations. The passenger version was replaced by the Windstar in the 1995 model year; both product lines were marketed until the Aerostar was discontinued after 1997. The role of the cargo version has been most directly replaced by the Transit Connect, sold since 2010. Introduced shortly after the Ford Taurus, the name of the Aerostar was derived from its radical slope-nosed design.
